School Meals
Cooked meals are provided by Eden Foodservice (from September 2009). Our kitchen staff are Mrs. D. Wright (Kitchen Manager) and her assistant, Miss L. North. Special diets can be catered for by written request – please speak to the kitchen manager to make arrangements.
Parents who are in receipt of Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers’ Allowance or Child Tax Credit (but are NOT entitled to a Working Tax Credit, and whose annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,040) are asked to contact the school office, to claim their entitlement to Free School Meals, even if they do not want to accept the meals at the present. Application and guidance are also available from the 'Forms' section of our website.
Our Kitchen Manager, operates a ticket system for school dinners. She is available every Monday morning from 8.30am in the school hall if you wish to purchase tickets for the forthcoming week/weeks. All tickets must be marked with your child's name. Tickets are handed into the kitchen each lunchtime. Meals are charged at £2.00per day (£10.00 per week)- from September 2010.
If paying by cheque please make it payable to Eden foodservice.
Children may bring a packed lunch from home. We ask that drinks are brought in non-breakable containers.
During the lunch break a senior member of the teaching staff is always on the premises.
Children are encouraged to bring fruit to eat at break times. As part of our Healthy Eating programme we do not allow crisps to be eaten at break times, but of course they may be included as part of a packed lunch. Please do not give your child fizzy drinks or sweets to bring to school.
We feel it is important that children drink a lot of water during the day to keep energy levels up. To this end we encourage them to bring a plastic water bottle with sports cap to keep in the classroom. They can then take drinks during breaks and lessons and avoid dehydration.
